Malin Bergquist Charities:
Leading the Fight Against Cancer
Please Join Malin Bergquist's Team as We
Raise Funds to Battle This Killer Disease
Determined that the cancer-related deaths of three of our colleagues would not go in vain, Malin Bergquist has adopted the fight against cancer as its signature charity and actively raises funds and donates employee time out of the office to support this vital work. The firm’s partners and staff support the objective of eliminating cancer through research, education, and advocacy and providing care to those stricken with the illness.
To attract donors by providing a qualified tax deduction, Malin Bergquist Charities, Inc., is incorporated as a tax-exempt, charitable foundation.
Mission - To eliminate cancer and its side effects by funding research and education, and providing direct patient care.
Fundraising - Since 2008, our team, backed by a dollar-for-dollar firm match, has raised more than $60,000 benefitting the American Cancer Society, Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation and other leading cancer research and services organizations.
We raise money with such major activities as the Relay for Life in Erie (Girard), attracting more than 100 walkers for our team last year, and with a variety of creative fundraisers throughout the year.
American Cancer Society - Together with millions of supporters, ACS
saves lives and creates a world with less cancer and more
birthdays by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by
finding cures, and by fighting back. A nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization, ACS has more than 900
local offices nationwide, and a presence in more than 5,100 communities.
Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation - The KCRF in Erie is pursuing non-invasive radio wave technology as a breakthrough in treatment procedures without any side effects. Its mission is
to create national and global awareness of the potentials of this
treatment and to raise funds to help accelerate the speed at which
research progresses through human trials.

Background - MB Charities was established in memory of three Malin Bergquist colleagues – partners Michael Bergquist and Peter Delio and office manager Ruth Ann Deluzio – all felled by cancer during an 18-month stretch.
Public Recognition - With the book project as inspiration, the Pittsburgh Business Times editor wrote: "The Malin Bergquist program impressed me for two reasons. It provided an outlet for the firm's employees to rally together and honor former colleagues. But just as importantly, it illustrated how one organization ... can fill a specific need in the community."
And at a dinner honoring Cancer Society volunteers in Pittsburgh, Malin Bergquist received the Pennsylvania Division's highest honor, the "Corporate Excellence Award."
Leadership - The board of directors includes Mark Miner (president), Stacy Rager (secretary), Albert Isacks (treasurer), Lisa Donoghue (assistant treasurer), Karen Burns, Travis Coble, Robin Coburn, Peter Kern and Leah Straub.
